A wedding is not an easy test for any photographer. This is where you will have to demonstrate the ability to work in extreme conditions and in different light conditions, to make a reportage and to direct the frame, if necessary. You will need the ability to take portraits and group shots, and all this at a waltz pace and with a fair share of creativity, because every client expects unique pictures which you wouldn’t be ashamed to put on your chest of drawers.

The decoration of any “collection” of wedding pictures are beautiful pictures of the bride. An experienced photographer, keeping this in mind, will give the hero of the day maximum attention, especially since there are plenty of beautiful moments, and the main thing is not to miss anything.

The bride in the morning

It will be great if you get to take pictures of the bride in the morning of the wedding day, usually all wedding photographers start with this. But the more experienced ones prepare for this moment in advance. They look around on the spot, estimate what pictures can be taken, make recommendations on what can be prepared for the morning photo session, so that it turns out to be original:How to Photograph a Bride Properly?

  • for example, soft toys will fit seamlessly into the frame;
  • beautiful flowers;
  • various wedding attributes;
  • mirrors in original frames, etc.

Already at the stage of dressing you can make interesting photos, since the bride in the morning on the wedding day is absorbed by her worries and does not pose on purpose, the pictures come out very natural, touching and beautiful. Most of the photos are reportage, but some shots can be staged. It is wise to postpone them to the moment when the bride will already be in all her glory, to avoid the excitement and rush, because the main character has a lot to do.

Makeup, hair, and dress

One concern is the application of bridal makeup. You don’t have to film the entire process; you can just let them finish it, and then ask the bride to pretend to touch up her makeup by putting on lipstick or eyelashes, putting on blush, or looking at her reflection in the mirror. Such shots look very cute and feminine. Usually the hair is also a small masterpiece. It should be shot from the upper angle, paying special attention to interesting details and decorations.

An object worthy of special attention is the wedding dress. You can take a few shots of the bride admiring it, gently correcting the folds and ruffles. Then there are a few pictures of the moment of dressing and, finally, to capture the result of transforming a cute cinderella into a beautiful princess.

The moment the bride is waiting for her betrothed looks touching in the pictures. Whether she will stand by the window, or “lie” on the couch with her favorite book, or snuggle up in an armchair with a stuffed toy – you decide.

You can include your bridesmaids and relatives in the morning photo session. The main condition – a good mood and a maximum of tact. After all, there is a difficult day ahead, both for you and the hero of the occasion.

Photo session in the interiorHow to Photograph a Bride Properly?

In addition to mastery of portrait photography, the photographer will have to demonstrate the ability to organize a photo session in the interior: whether it is a modest khrushchevka, a luxurious villa or a festive wedding hall. The main condition for making good photos is that the interior should not overshadow the main characters. Of course, the original furniture or intricate architectural elements will look interesting on the photo, but also in a simple interior you can make great shots.

Sometimes a “bad” light in the room becomes an obstacle on the way to a good picture. Here it is important to know how to navigate quickly, consider the level of light, correctly use the flash, consider the color of the walls, ceiling, etc. It’s better to use the light from the window as much as possible. It is soft and bright enough.

Photo session in the open air

Let’s paraphrase a song from a remarkable cartoon “the tempting vaults of palaces will never replace nature”, and it means: no matter what weather there was in the yard, the photos of the bride in “nature” should be. And photo session in the open air does not mean that it is necessary to go out somewhere in the park, woods or on the river, though it would be wonderful! Urban landscapes would also work.

The background should be pleasing to the eye, interesting, but not too bright. Optimally, if the newlyweds choose not only the traditional wedding sights, but also special places important to them: the place of the first date, meeting, etc. It is important that the bride looks organically in the background that is offered, that she likes the setting, then the photos will turn out natural and interesting.
